The daughter of Sixties pop star John Phillips of The Mamas & The Papas, Mackenzie Phillips made her big-screen breakthrough at the age of 12, when she was cast in the hit film American Graffiti. She went on to co-star in the long-running sitcom One Day at a Time. But in the years that followed, she would become better known for her very public battle with drugs and alcohol.
